Expansion Project in the Dominican Republic

Ever since we founded OKO in 2016, our goal has always been to employ women and men in the Dominican Republic and to provide an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. For the last 5 years, we have been manufacturing our OKO clothing line in a small workshop located in a community called Los Suarez. We have fallen in love with the people that live there and have been praying for opportunities to expand our manufacturing so that we may employ more and more people. Our mission is to provide sustainable and honest employment to a community that was never given a chance.

In 2018, we were presented with the opportunity to purchase a piece of land in Los Suarez and take the next step towards the development of a larger production workshop. We have prayed over that land and about what it would one day become. Our vision has been to one day walk into a factory full of women and men that have a smile on their face as they have overcome poverty and been given the chance to live a new life of hope and happiness.

The Lord has put this passion on our hearts and He has provided clarity on the path to making this goal a reality. Katie’s husband Will has decided to join OKO full-time and they will be moving to the Dominican Republic to oversee the construction of this factory. Will and Katie plan to leave in May and will be working alongside the new development. We could not be more excited and grateful for the ability to start this next chapter at OKO! We believe that equipping someone with the chance to work, create, and earn a sustainable income will bring about lasting change for many generations to come.

As we begin this new project, we ask all of you to join us in praying that God will continue to give us clear direction, for OKO to have a lasting impact on the community of Los Suarez, and that we will glorify Him in all that we do in our stores as well as in the Dominican Republic. We are so grateful for all of you and would not be able to do this without the support of each customer. It has been such a blessing to get to know so many of you on a personal level and we look forward to continuing to grow with all of you!
